Jasubhai Foundation is a registered Charitable Trust serving the people of India. This Foundation is funded by the Jasubhai Group of Companies and its Founder Mr. Jasu Shah. The main thrust of the activities in which the Foundation extends its support are Education, Medicine, Arts & Culture, and on a selective basis, Rural Development. The decisions about the support are not influenced by caste, creed, religion, etc., but are on the merit of the proposals
Education
This is the main thrust area of Jasubhai Foundation. Over the last many years, the Foundation has given support to the educational activities - from primary education to advanced Management education. The Foundation has supported a major Management Institute in Chennai. It has also, in an elaborate manner, supported girl child's education since many years and computer education recently. The Foundation gives scholarships for higher education both in India and abroad
Synapse
A not-for-profit institute based in Goa, Synapse was initially founded under a grant from the Jasubhai Foundation. Now working as an independent organisation, Synapse is a forum for ideas and action in Communication and Technology. Besides providing content and information services, Synapse is engaged in research on the implications and methods associated with Communication and Technology.
Medicine
The Foundation considers this area important and has contributed substantial amount of resources in putting up an Eye Hospital in Kalol, North Gujarat and has given a huge donation of Rs. one crore to Hurkinsondas Narottamdas Hospital in the city center of Mumbai. Apart from this, the Foundation supports needy people at the time of medical crisis over many years.
Arts & Culture
The Foundation is deeply concerned about the development of Arts and Culture and in particular our Indian Heritage in these fields. Through a huge endowment to Shanmukhananda Sabha, the Foundation was leading the effort in rebuilding the Shanmukhananda Hall. The Foundation has also given some donations to such organizations like NCPA and given individual scholarship and support to many Indian artists. The Foundation also committed a huge amount for another Arts & Culture center in Mumbai namely, Indian National Theatre.
Rural Development
The Foundation considers this area of very great importance but in absence of much expertise available with the Foundation, it selects individuals and NGOs who have a very outstanding track record of work in rural areas. So far the activities in this field have remained restricted to a few devoted individuals and NGOs in Gujarat. The Foundation is committed to not only service to the people of India but enhance the standards of performance in the above vital areas.
